CROSS COUNTRY

Home Page

I think that cross country does not get enough respect. No one is ever at the meets and when they announce the scores of our team in chapel no one is listening.  I understand not coming to the meets because they are so boring but no one has respect for how hard it is. The eighth graders running cross country moved up at the end of the season and ran with the high school. In practice, we would sometimes run up to six miles! Now I don't know about you but it is not easy to run up to six miles a day and then run three miles almost at a sprinting pace for meets.  In middle school cross country we would run up to three miles. People ask me all the time why I would run just for the fun of it.  There is a major sense of accomplishment when you finish your workout or a meet.  Cross Country gives you discipline and perseverance.  Running six miles is hard but you do it and when you finish it you feel like your on top of the world.  It inspires you to work harder and keep running.  Now you know.
